Lufthansa to take over Brussels Airlines

11:28 29/09/2016

The German airline Lufthansa will completely take over Brussels Airlines in early 2017, report various media after Lufthansa on Wednesday made the announcement following a supervisory board meeting. Lufthansa and the Belgian shareholders aim to agree on the terms by the end of this year, so that Lufthansa can take over the remaining 55% in shares that it did not yet hold.

The German company, which currently owns 45% of the shares, will pay €2.6 million to completely take over the Belgian airline. According to De Standaard, the purchase amount is low for a company like Lufthansa, which last year posted a profit of €41.3 million.
