Living in Liege - Buying a house

Question

I would like to know your feedback/experiences living in Liege. Which areas/communes will you suggest for an international couple - FR and Non Eu? We have a 2 year old girl - FR speaking creche and school will be preferred. Proximity to public transport ideal but not mandatory.

Thanks in advance,
AM

If you don't know the posh areas then buying would be insane. Rent first. Children go to school aged 2.5. Use the socio economic index to find posh areas. Use Google to understand and find it. Liege is french speaking and therefore all schools.

Non EU could mean anything and makes no difference in terms of giving advice on where you should live. It could mean American, Moroccan, Indian or Congolese

Ask advice from your work colleagues. Beware that people are rarely objective about the place they live in and often justify that by being negative about other areas.

DO NOT BUY. Rent. Buying is full of potential pitfalls and very inflexible. Get it wrong and you are stuffed. And it's not unusual to spend several years looking for the right property - it's not a quick process.
