Join a charity golf tournament and help orphaned kids in Kenya

14:55 31/08/2013

Expats are raising money for two charities in Africa in a two-person golf-scramble in Nivelles on September 5. Places are still available for the charity golf day at the American course La Tournette and the evening dinner.

The Orbit Village charity was launched in 2012 by a group of ex Rugby players of Brussels British RFC (now Brussels Barbarians). It raised over €7,000 last year, enabling orphaned boys and girls at the Orbit village in Nairobi to learn rugby. Now it is helping to build a perimeter wall around the orphanage and grass the rugby pitch. It will also support the Lorna Foundation, which is building a school for girls in a rural area of Kenya. The expat charity hopes to donate €6,000, to finance an additional classroom.

Thursday’s dinner includes a tombola; among the prizes is an English Lions rugby shirt autographed by Wales player Shane Williams.

The green fee for non-members is €45; participation towards the charity €20. Dinner tickets (including wine) are €36.
