Ixelles Commune registration for NON EU worker - Delay

Question

I went to the Ixelles commune for the registering 3 weeks back on NOvember 16th, In the commune they took my name and address and informed there would be a police verification and post that i can come back to commune for registration. However its been 3 weeks and i havent received any police person to my house? Anyone here had experienced such delays and is it common for taking so long?

Not at all uncommon - and the police may have called once or twice while you were out, eventually if that continues they will leave a card asking you to contact them.

Even after the police control, the registration process can be quite slow. Mine, 5½ years ago and as an EU citizen with a pension, took over 2 months after the control, all down to delays at the centre (i.e. not the commune's fault at all).

Sometimes the police just approve you without seeing you if they call and you are not home more than once. You could check with the borough, your registration may be waiting for you at the Ixelles Borough Hall. That's how it worked for me.

The only time I have had any personal attention from the Belgian police was when they called me in the Czech Republic to demand to know why my red Honda motorcycle was parked in a public place with no insurance. When it comes to domicile, they accepted a label in a mail box. I never owned a red Honda motorcycle. What a farce.

I am facing the same problem. I have registered my arrival on 30th November. While doing so they took my address and told that police verification will be done within two weeks but its already been 3 weeks and no much progress.
Let me know if formalities are completed for you.
