15:09 30/06/2015

The price of a beer in Brussels is fairly modest compared to many cities around the world, writes brusselnieuws.be. The Belgian capital comes in 36th place in the 2015 Beer Price Index presented by travel search engine GoEuro. The cheapest city for beer is Krakow, Poland, and the most expensive is Geneva, Switzerland.

GoEuro examined the beer prices in 75 world cities, looking at the five most imported beers and the main local beer. With the data collected from both supermarkets and cafés, GoEuro created the index which indicates the average price for a 33-cl beer in each city.

The cheapest beer cities, according to the index, are mainly in Eastern Europe, with Krakow (€1.48), Kiev (€1.49) and Bratislava (€1.51) in the top three. Brussels follows in 36th place with an average price of €2.84, which is cheaper than Vienna or Paris, but more expensive than Berlin or Amsterdam.

The priciest cities for a beer are mainly in North America, Asia and Scandinavia, but the most expensive beer city by far is Geneva, Switzerland, with an  average price of €5.64 per beer.
