Include Personal Info on CV?

Question

G'afternoon - This query is directed to the longtimers in the Belgian job market. I saw a friend's cv recently with personal information (date of birth, marital status, spouse's name, number of children) that definitely would not be included in the U.S. Is that standard here in Belgium and other EU countries? I am applying for a job this week and want to know whether omitting that information would be a strike against me. Muchas gracias.

Date of birth and marital status would be normal but not spouse's name or number of childen. Good luck with the job hunt.
