Ikea: “Belgium is grey”

11:17 15/04/2014

Furniture retailer Ikea has launched an outdoor poster campaign to promote its new spring collection, promising to inject some “much-needed” colour into Belgium.

The campaign features bright single-coloured posters with an optical illusion: they appear to be one solid block of colour, while closer inspection reveals the faint white outlines of pieces of furniture.

"Belgium is grey. Grey buildings. Grey walls. Grey, grey, grey," proclaims a video produced by the retailer to describe the story behind its colourful poster campaign.

Yes, Belgium is gray. A major change and investment would be to plant flowers at roundabouts, along roads, …. use Waterloo as an example. Waterloo always has pretty flowers, a team goes about tending the flower beds so all looks neat and tidy, and there are flowers almost 10 months a year. Brussels plants flowers but never waters or takes care of them--messy and sad looking.
