i-pod not recognized on my new laptop

Good morning,

I have recently bought a new laptop. When I plug my i-pod into it, my i-pod is not recognised as it was previously linked to my old computer. Can anyone advise how I can transfer my i-tunes library from my i-pod or old laptop to my new lap top?

I'm not too technically minded, so please be gentle with me. :)
