how to choose car insurance

I'm buying my first car (new) and contacted few insurance companies for a full comprehensive insurance.
The quotes I received range from 2000 to 3000 for more or less the same options. Should I go for the cheapest one ? What could be the reason to go for the more expensive one ?
Also regarding specific insurance companies, which one would you recommend out of Axa, Ethias, Allianz, Vivium, BNP Paribas Fortis, AG insurance and why ?
Thank you in advance for any hint.

I would just go for the cheapest personally. I've never had any problems with Ethias.

You can also have a look at comparison sites like this one:

I have found Ethias to be the best overall.
Cheap can have problems, check the small print of cover.

The sad truth, as I found out many years ago, is that you only find out how good your insurance supplier is when you have to make a claim . So long as the cover offered in the small print is what you need, all you can do is hope for the best.
Ideally you want recommendations from people who have had to claim and have been happy with how their claim was handled.

You need to have a least TPL (liability coverage) from one insurer authorised to do business in Belgium.

Suggest thet you alos buy 'protection juridique' which is to pay legal costs in case of accident or dispute with your TPL insurer.
Best is to have those from separate companies.

You also have to decide if you go direct or via a broker. The second can assist in case of a claim as he is your rep. otherswise it is between you and the insurer.

ETHIAS has a good reputation for TPL, I am covered there.
AXA, AG, BALOISE are also good but via broker.
Check various as they each have their rating criteria.

Ive found a website with english information about car insurances in belgium. Most comprehensive insurance can indeed be Axa, Ethias,Corona Direct or Argenta. Feel free to have a look, it helped me. There are different rules for Belgian insurance compared to other Eurpean countries so be sure that you inform yourself about the regulations in this country.
