Geluck’s cartoon cat to get own museum in Brussels

10:58 03/07/2015

A museum dedicated to the ‘Chat’, the famous feline cartoon character created by Belgian cartoonist Philippe Geluck, is due to open its doors on Place Royale in Brussels in 2019. The Brussels Capital Region is reportedly putting the so-called « 1930 » building at Geluck’s disposal. The neglected building, which currently belongs to regional property acquisition group SAF/MVV, has lain empty for 15 years.

Works to the exterior of the building are expected to cost around €4.5 million and last 3 years and 9 months. The Brussels Capital Region has agreed to foot the bill. The cartoonist, meanwhile, will cover the cost of interior renovations.
