Free breakfast on Thursday for Brussels cyclists

00:01 29/10/2015

Breakfast was handed out to cyclists on Thursday morning at various stops across Brussels, in an initiative of Brussels mobility minister Pascal Smet and various cycling organisations. The free breakfast was offered between 7.30 and 8.30 at Brussels' three major train stations – South, Central and North – as well as Brussels-Luxembourg Station, Square Sainctelette and both campuses of the Free University of Brussels (ULB and VUB).

The aim of the initiative is to encourage more cyclists to continue riding during the winter months, but also to raise awareness about the importance of good visibility, writes brusselnieuws.be. The cyclists associations CyCLO, Gracq and Fietersbond were on hand to give cyclists tips on how to adapt their behaviour during the winter, and Brussels Mobility distributed accessories to help cyclists make themselves more visible, such as lights and fluorescent jackets.

Minister Smet was on site to hand out breakfast at Square Sainctelette, while a DJ provided the atmosphere.
