Four kilograms of heroin intercepted at Brussels Airport

11:29 06/07/2015

Two men were arrested  at Brussels Airport on Saturday morning for possession of 4.18 kg of heroin, found hidden in their luggage under false bottoms,  according to the prosecutor's office of Halle-Vilvoorde.

The two men, a 43-year-old British national and a 42-year-old Irish national, were carrying luggage containing the packages of drugs, buried under a mixture of strong pepper, spices and curry in a suspected attempt to throw off the airport detection dogs.

The suspects were handed over to the public prosecutor following their arrest, shortly after the arrival of their flight from Ethiopia. They will be arraigned for the possession and attempted import of narcotic drugs within the framework of an international criminal organisation.
