filter for calcium in the water

Question

Hello Everyone,

I noticed that the water in Brussels has a lot calcium deposits. Do you know what to do to filter the calcium from the water coming to the house or the flat? is there a machine that can do this? at what point of the water entering the house is it attached?

Thanks for any feedback on this.

Mimi

There are different types of systems for dealing with this problem. In principle you can install the system at any point in the circuit, and then it covers everything downstream. For full coverage it has to be inserted in the main water line after the meter before the pipe enters into a wall. The one my landlord has installed (called Grundfos or Cillit) injects a solution into the water pipe. I was concerned about it but after reading about it is supposed to e safe even for drinking water, but we use bottles anyway. It is quite effective, but you have to periodically replenish the solution. I suggest you visit one of the CVan Marcke shops, they have a lot of different equipment and can give you suggestions, and they have aout 10 sops in the Brussels area and many others elsewhere. http://www.vanmarcke.com/fr-be/gestion-de-l-eau

"is there a machine that can do this?"

Yes - It's called a water softener.
