Family weekend getaway?

Question

Hello - looking for suggestions for a weekend (overnight) get away for a family with preteens - going by train. The idea is a nice place to visit, some cultural things or disctinct scenery/flavour - any ideas? Was thinking Luxembourg? Paris and London already done.
Thank you very much for any suggestions!

Maastricht (one day) & Valkenburg thermal baths (one day) - http://www.thermae.nl/welkom/

Lille is nice as well.

Luxembourg is small and can be boring at weekend time.

Amsterdam could be nice as well. Or even the Hague & Scheveningen (at seaside)...

I love Luxemburg and think that the scenery is great for a city centre - there is a deep gorge right through the area.
If you are Brussels based there is an hourly direct train service.

Amsterdam is much bigger and canal trips are a great way to see the city.
Again, an hourly direct train service from Brussels.

Flemish Ardennes are great for scenery, culture etc.; train journey is 45 mins approx. from Brussels. Highly recommend you contact this lovely lady, Mrs Chris Troffaes, who might be able to help you. She has a B&B, with horses.
