Facebook rolls out its Marketplace in Belgium

Belgium's most popular site for second-hand items, 2ememain.be/2dehands.be, is about to get a serious competitor, as Facebook launches its Facebook Marketplace in 17 European countries, including Belgium. The e-commerce platform allows people to easily buy and sell used goods online.

According to the social networking site, it takes no more than 15 seconds to post an item for sale on the Marketplace, using a smartphone or laptop. The initiative arrives in Europe after a successful launch last year in the United States, the UK and Australia.

In the American version, 18 million products were sold on Facebook Marketplace in May alone. The most popular categories are furniture, baby and children's items and women's clothing.
