Extra security measures for De Lijn after stone throwing incidents

15:10 05/06/2017

The Brussels-West police zone has taken additional security measures after various De Lijn buses in Molenbeek were the target of stone throwers in the last few months, announced Molenbeek mayor Françoise Schepmans on Sunday. An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incidents, but has since been released, writes De Standaard.

During a meeting with the local police last week, representatives from the Flemish public transport authority reported that several incidents have occurred since April in which De Lijn buses were pelted with eggs and stones. None of the Brussels STIB buses were targeted.

The police have therefore decided to reinforce security on the Molenbeek routes, and even avoid Rue des Quatre Vents as a result of the reports.
