Exchange of DNA data is great success

11:31 31/07/2014

Belgium and the Netherlands have for the first time agreed to exchange DNA data, leading to a possible breakthrough in hundreds of cases. The DNA data exchanged can be traced back to the scene of a crime in one of the two countries in 576 cases, reports the Belgian media.

The DNA data offers investigators hope of finding new clues, incriminating suspects and solving difficult cases. In the future Belgium will conduct a similar exchange to gain access to the DNA databases in France and Germany, and eventually more countries.
