Dietician urgently needed

Question

Dear all,

After a year of too much stress I have put on 5 extra kilos and need help loosing them before the summer. Anyone that could recommend me a dietician that could do close follow-ups and give lots of pep talk and support? I've never been on a diet before but do understand that less calories and more exercise is the trick but with my current life style (lots of stress but healthy diet) I need that extra moral support. Anyone with positive experiences?

Hi An, sounds like you need a wholistic life coach not a dietician, all a real dietician will do is give you a list of foods and suggest what you eat and only then if you're deemed to be over weight. It's not only about what you eat but when you eat and how if you're rushing down meals on the go it's not ideal. Sitting and chewing is really important for feedback to the brain. . Before you spend money try putting a ten or twenty minute walk into your day some where that will also help with the stress. Maybe use the stairs not the lift try increasing your water intake that can also help reduce eating when thirsty. Look at how often you eat and what your go to comfort or energy boost food is. If you're not allergic nuts are a good source of nutrients and although calorie high don't usually lead to weight gain if incoperayed in diet in moderation. I'd try all this before I spent money on a dietician. Unless medically qualified and many aren't in my experience they tend to tell you what they did that made them super skinny and because we are all different that may not work for you. Plus because they study with people who have not got. Background in bio physiology they can suggest really radical things. Yo yo dieting is a sure way to gain weight.
I do know a nice wholistic person who may work for your stress which in my opinion is more dangerous than a few extra KG. She isn't qualified in nutrition but she is a very nice person. http://www.irenenolte.com/en/contact

I have recently started going to Curves at the Cora in Woluwe. They do a specific routine for women (only takes 30 minutes) and give food advice - worth a try?
