Dierendonck takes over Jack O'Shea butcher shop

20:04 08/08/2016

The renowned Belgian butcher Hendrik Dierendonck will expand his business to include a new location in the building of the former Jack O'Shea butcher shop in Rue Sainte-Catherine. Jack O'Shea closed its doors last week, citing financial difficulties. Dierendonck says a Brussels branch is “a childhood dream come true,” according to Bruzz.

All Brussels branches of the Jack O'Shea legacy – one restaurant and three butcher shops – closed their doors last week. The news travelled fast, and immediately piqued the interest of Dierendonck, director of the eponymous butcher shop in Nieuwpoort and Carcasse restaurant in Koksijde.

“A former employee of Jack O'Shea's called me after the property in Rue Sainte-Catherine went up for rent,” Dierendonck told Bruzz. “I immediately drove over there, and was able to close an agreement with the owner of the property.” The new Dierendonck branch will require some remodelling, but the aim is to open by October.

The fate of the other O'Shea butcher shops and restaurant is still unclear.
