Danish Tavern near Bourse catches fire

10:40 12/05/2017

Fire broke out early on Friday morning on the outside of the timber-frame Danish Tavern, a restaurant in Brussels' Rue de la Bourse. It took two hours for firefighters to bring the flames under control, but damage to the property's interior was limited, writes Bruzz.

The fire raged on Friday morning between 4.30 and 6.30, from the building's false façade to its roof. The cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. Firefighters had to break off many of the building's decorative elements to put out the fire.

The façade of the tavern will now need to be restored and treated for water damage. The apartments in the building are still habitable, and no one was injured.
