Credit Rating in Belgium

Question

Hello All,

I would like to know from where I can get my credit rating in Belgium. Is there any website I can get it or I need to go to my Bank and ask for it.

Thank you.

The simple answer is that you can't. There is no such thing as a public credit rating that you can find.

On the other hand, there is a central register of credits held at the central bank. Here you can see all the loans that are held against your name.

Belgium has strict laws which are intended to prevent lenders offering loans to people that they are then unable to pay - if you were to be offered a loan "recklessly" then the lender would find itself unable to enforce the payments due and would probably have to write the loan off and clearly no lender wishes to place itself in that position.
You will find that various websites provide calculators for the sort of loan that you might be able to take, and your own bank will almost certainly offer one. You may be surprised by how little you will be permitted to borrow but it is all down to being able to afford the repayments. If you don't actually SAVE any money from your income now, you may find that your credit rating is, in effect, zero and you won't be able to borrow at all.

The Credit Rating system does not exist in Belgium the official way.
Credit cards and any non-conservative style of living. is very strict in Belgian banking system. i can testify that even with fairly good incomes here they wont issue a credit card just like that.. and about buying on payments here. forget about it. In many countries that i lived before and some developed places from Europe will split you the costs in payments without any bragging. Unfortunately in Belgium the financial system is very old, bureaucratic, full of loathing and not welcoming. just make you wonder what are the banks are living from.. if credits are easily denied
