Coding school for 450 students to open in Uccle

21:49 18/09/2017

A free coding school for 18- to 30-year-olds will open in Brussels next year, with room for 450 students, backed by French internet tycoon Xavier Niel.

Niel, who founded one of France's biggest internet service providers, Free, began offering coding lessons in Paris in 2013 and is now expanding his operation to Belgium.

Ecole 19 will be based on the campus of Bogaerts International School, in the Latour de Freins château in Uccle and will operate as not-for-profit franchise of the Paris operation.

Private backers are being sought for the initiative. Students will be enrolled for two to five years.
