Certified Translation
I have a document in English which needs to be certified by a commune-approved/sworn translator. However most of the text in the document already exists in French - fully checked and correct - it is a standard text but the document to be certified holds the English version only.
Does anyone have experience of whether translators will certify a document not translated by them (of course after proof-reading it themselves) and/or use an existing translation? I realise that however it's done there would be a cost involved of course.

Ask them the question. My guess is no - it's a condition of the translation being certified by the courts that they swear that they have translated it themselves, etc.
No. You may find someone willing to do it but it's not proper procedure. I certainly wouldn't do it.
The translator may well make use of the words on the French language version of the document, having checked that they do form a precise translation of the English language version (not always a given fact). Their charge will be the same.
