CD review: "Igloo Jazz Classics Collection"

10:17 08/09/2011

Peak moments in Belgian jazz have been committed to posterity by Igloo Records, a Brussels oufit that celebrated its 30th anniversary last year by remastering and reissuing gems from its archives, starting with Crystal Bells (’85) by legendary threesome Chet Baker, Philip Catherine and Jean-Louis Rassinfosse.
The classics collection now numbers nine CDs,with two more (Nathalie Loriers’ Nympheas; Eric Legnini and Joe Lovano’s Rhythm Sphere) due out later this fall and more in the pipeline for next year. The price (€12 a pop) is right and the sounds are superb.
