Call for carpooling during strike

Automobile association VAB is exhorting car users to give train commuters a lift on Wednesday as the rail strike takes effect. Recent studies, furthermore, show a growing interest in carpooling. One in four car users are now considering carpooling on a regular basis, and rising fuel prices are the main factor in changing mentalities. The VAB sees Wednesday’s strike as a golden opportunity to give carpooling a try, reminding car drivers that they are entitled to claim back fuel costs at a rate of €0.08 per kilometre. www.carpool.be.
