buying painted furniture

Question

I want to buy my teenager an adult-sized set of bedroom furniture (wardrobe, chest of drawers, book case and possibly bed).

Want painted wood furniture in a classic style like these shown here: http://www.thedormyhouse.com/catalogue/bedroom/painted-furniture.

Is there anywhere in Brussels (or outside of Bxls) that sells this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Thank you Meha for taking the time and trouble to post those links, it is appreciated, but unfortunately, right now, I don't have time to transport and paint.

Any recommendations for shops pls? Thank you!

Thank you again for taking the trouble to post all of those links Meha. Very kind of you!

Was hoping not to have to revert back to melamine - but will have a look and see!

The sort of painted furniture I am after is sold in specialist shops back home. Not antique shops exactly but shops run by people who specialise in painted pine. I want something that lasts (last Ikea chest of drawers broke after 5.5 yrs!).

Thanks again!

Thanks again

Have you checked out Laura Ashley, Chse de Waterloo, I think. Pricey, but lovely!

Vastiau Godeau in Alsemberg.

Au Bon Repos, Place de la Chapelle, Brussels

Both have wide ranges that go from the ridiculously unfashionable to the screamingly repulsive, and some great stuff in between, with a range of budgets to match.

If you don't mind sanding and painting check out the trocs they have online search and you can see what is available in all the shops in Belgium, prices tend to be reasonable and renovating items as you want is pretty easy to do with a bit of patience and elbow grease.

Have just come back on here and seen all these latest, very helpful, posts. Thank you so much everyone!

I would gladly go the Troc route if I had a bit more time but thank you for the links CC_R!

I like Laura Ashley but have to watch the height as their furniture tends to be a bit short for this (very tall and thin) house!

Will definitely check out other links though, thank you very much. Flamant certainly looks interesting if a little pricey!

And was not aware of Vastiau Godeau or that Bon Repos sold furniture as well as beds, so will check them out!

Thank you again!
