Business travellers slowly returning to Brussels

14:58 04/05/2016

Visitor numbers in Brussels are "encouraging", writes Bruzz based on the first projections made by tourist authority Visit Brussels since the 22 March terror attacks.

Business travellers are gradually returning to Brussels, while tourists still need time to find their way back to the European capital, according to a preliminary calculation by Visit Brussels. The calculation shows that there are currently 30% fewer tourists in Brussels than in the same period last year, but only 15% fewer business travellers.

"It will take months before leisure tourism gets back up to a normal level,” Visit Brussels director Patrick Bontinck told Bruzz. “We will be satisfied if we can limit the decline in the number of tourists during the summer to 15%.” American and Japanese tourists are especially wary about visiting Brussels, according to Bontinck.
