Bus from Sterrebeek to Leuven rail station

Question

Our teenage daughter needs to travel from Sterrebeek (Tramlaan) to Leuven rail station by herself this weekend. She is used to the Metro, but has never used the bus.
It would appear that there are several buses that travel this route.
So - a couple of very simple questions, if I may.
Is her MOBIB card valid for this bus route? If not, can she pay in cash?

I

What ticket is loaded onto the mobib card? I don't think De lijn has gotten around to single tickets preloaded onto mobib cards yet. Check their website.

If it s a one off journey, then cash on bus or SMS ticket. Check the website.

No once you’re outside of Bxl you need a separate type of de Lijn card for the journey. My son has local de lijn plus Mobib for his journey to school from Overijse. As far as I’m aware you can still pay cash and there is a number you can text for a message for a reduced travel cost I believe

The text a number means she had a message on her phone to show the driver to get the reduced fee they used to do that I’m not sure if it still runs and I’m sorry I don’t know the number to text

Hello,

Yes, she can text "DL" to 4884 and receive a SMS ticket which is valid for 1 hour. She should take the bus 410 on Tramlaan, this is more than enough for the 1hour ticket as it is the "Snelbus" (fast bus, least stops) and she can get off at the terminal next to Leuven Station. I would advice her to send the SMS as soon as she sees the bus coming, so she doesn't lose valid time of the SMS ticket. You never know if the bus shows up late.

Sorry, just realised you mentioned " Weekend". I don't think the 410 bus runs. if it doesn't then there are other options from Tramlaan. 316, 352 is what I can think of at the top of my head.
