Brussels workers less ill than the rest of the country

11:58 24/09/2012

Although the percentage of Brussels residents in employment is currently low (54 percent compared to 57 percent in Wallonia and 66 percent in Flanders), Brussels workers are less likely to take sick leave, according to official figures for the private sector. In Brussels, workers are on average off sick 6.4 days a year, compared to 8.63 days in Flanders and 10.34 in Wallonia. While the figures reveal a split between the country’s regions, there are two exceptions of note: Limburg’s rate is more in line with Wallonia’s, while the rate in Walloon Brabant is similar to the Flemish average.
