Brussels will see slight decrease in electricity prices

While electricity prices are increasing in the rest of the country, an agreement between the regional regulator and the grid management company Sibelga means distribution tariffs will decrease in 2015 in Brussels by about 6% for the average electricity customer.

Gas prices will also decrease, by about  8%, to be followed by a slight increase. Despite the later increase, VREG said, the tariff will still be lower in 2019 than it was in 2014.

Distribution tariffs in Brussels count for 41% of the electricity bill and 26% of the gas bill, meaning the total energy bill will go down in 2015 by 2.5%. In other parts of Belgium, electricity will go up, but gas will go down, so most households will barely feel the pinch.
