Brussels' Rue de Namur to get new street art

09:49 28/08/2015

Seven new wall murals are to brighten up the neighbourhood in Rue de Namur in Brussels. The murals are part of a street art-walk launched by culture minister Karine Lalieux, reports brusselnieuws.be.

The seven participating artists, according to La Libre Belgique, are Spear, Eyes B, Parole, KoolKoor, Van Tang, Steve Locatelli en Nova Dead. They will each paint one wall in the street.

The aim of the initiative, which has the support of the local merchants and the provincial trade agency Atrium, is to beautify the Rue de Namur.

"Despite the street's many attractive qualities, it struggles to lure passers-by," Arnaud Texier of Atrium explained in La Libre Belgique. “That's why we we're fully behind this initiative.”

The murals will be inaugurated during the event Shop 'n Music, to be held in Rue de Namur on Sunday, 30 August. At 13.00 the seven artists will explain their work.
