Brussels resident creates app to help find lost cats

07:14 20/01/2016

A Brussels resident who is fond of cats recently developed and released a free app for iPhone and iPad (an Android version should be released soon), writes Le Soir. FindMyCat provides a quick and easy way to reunite lost cats with their owners.

Daniel Vindevogel, creator of the app, says: "Cats that live in apartments can easily go astray because so few of them have a microchip or a collar. I think it's a shame that so many owners of lost cats still resort to plastering posters around the neighbourhood. Apparently no one else ever had the idea to create an online platform for them."

FindMyCat is available in French, Dutch and English. It uses geolocation to show users any lost or found cats in their area. A messaging function facilitates communication between finder and owner.

FindMyCat currently has about 200 ads, mainly located in Brussels. But Vindevogel hopes to extend its reach to the rest of Belgium, and the world, as he has yet to find a similar app in another country. He would also like to convince animal shelters to use the tool.

This project is to update the existing IOS app ‘FindMyCat’.
We would also like to develop this app for Android as we we receive many requests for it.
We also want to add some great features on the existing IOS version.
(like real time notifications, search engine, live chat, etc)

And we are building a start-up to promote it and the app will be the temple of Cats.

The free version of app is available for free on Tutuapp helper download app store.
