Brussels region sets up working group on Brexit issues

11:59 27/02/2017

The Brussels government has approved the creation of a working group to deal with the impact Brexit will issues relating to Brexit.

The coordination group will be chaired by external trade secretary Cécile Jodogne and aims to prepare the region for Britain's eventual departure from the European Union.

The group's missions will include positioning and promoting Brussels as an attractive location for financial services, company headquarters, the media and other businesses that rely on access to the European single market. It will organise seminars in London throughout this year, as well as in Korea, India, Japan and the United States.

It will also develop a marketing strategy to convey a positive image to British companies and authorities and conduct a full study on the impact Brexit could have on the Brussels economy.

A Mr (or Mrs) Brexit will be appointed from the Brussels business community to coordinate the various initiatives and to represent Brussels at the Belgium federal government's Brexit High Level Group.
