Brussels museum launches crowdfunding for new dinosaur exhibit

14:44 16/03/2017

By the end of 2017, the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels hopes to unveil a new exhibition on the Plateosaurus, 'Ben', a five metre long dinosaur fossil skeleton that is 210 million years old. To finance the project, the Museum has launched a crowdfunding page with an aim to raise €25,000, writes Bruzz.

The Plateosaurus is known for its long neck and extraordinary length. Due to the costly nature of the research, treatment and cleaning involved in the preparation of the exhibit, the museum is now looking to crowdfunding for help. After 67 days, the initiative has already raised more than €4,500, or 18% of its total goal.

The Museum will use the money to prepare, piece together and mount the skeleton on a custom-made metal frame and stage, and to develop educational material. It hopes to have Ben proudly on display by the end of this year.
