Brussels gets new running race along the canal

06:56 13/10/2015

On Saturday, 7 November, the first edition of the Brussels Canal Run will take place in the city's canal zone, with a choice of three distances: 4, 8 or 12 km. For children under 12, there is a 1 km run.

Unlike most other Brussels running competitions, the canal route is completely flat, writes brusselnieuws.be. The start and finish are at Quai de Mariemont 13. The trail follows the water all the way to Quai Fernand Demets in Anderlecht, before turning back along the opposite side of the canal.

The 'new' event is being relaunched under the name Brussels Canal Run, but was previously known as Le Jogging de l'Amitié. Proceeds from the race will go to La chaîne de l'amitié, a meeting place for the elderly and disabled.

Runners are encouraged to register before 23 October on brusselscanalrun.be. Up to 500 runners can participate, and the interest is high.
