Brussels-City and ULB sign historic cultural agreement

08:15 21/12/2017

The city of Brussels and the Free University of Brussels (ULB) made history on Wednesday when they signed an agreement to strengthen cultural ties. It is the first time the city has entered into a cultural partnership with a non-cultural organisation.

“Historically linked since the creation of the university, today we want to work even more closely,” said alderwoman for culture Karine Lalieux. “It seems paramount to us to place culture in the heart of the campus but also to encourage students to take part in the cultural life of the capital. We will be providing funds every year to develop common projects. The recently completed mural by Gola Hundrun on Building H as part of the Parcours Street Art is a great beginning.”

The agreement will create a framework which will facilitate cooperation and establish an annual program of activities. “We are thrilled with this cultural partnership, which underlines our will to develop the university’s mission of spreading knowledge and providing services to society,” said ULB Rector Yvon Englebert.
