Brussels to Amsterdam car rental

Question

Hi,
I want to hire a car for a one-way trip by picking it up in Brussels and dropping it off at Amsterdam airport, to take a flight from there. I do not want to use the train because there isn't one that coincides with my flight.

Does anyone know of a car-rental company that allows this? I suppose it's possible since all the car rental companies are pan-European.

Has anyone done this? Any idea of the cost?
Thanks a lot.

Try any of the car rental places at Brussel Mdi.

Look online. Most big rental companies are able to offer such service

My colleague looked into this last year....cheapest he could find was 150 euros or so. Ended up using blah blah car. Go to any of the car rental sites and just put in your pick up and return locations; I just did it on europcar and quotes start at 180+ euros. Maybe try blablacar? See if anybody is going to Amsterdam on your dates. Or see what the flixbus schedules are?

I always worry with blah blah cars how one is insured in case of accident and needing emergency care if they aren't paying to carry fares on their insurance would you be coveted? As that is technically what you're paying for.

cheapest you could get for the same day return I think is 50euros. Not including fuel costs. The price is logical as its not a replacement form for buses trains, etc

You don't say what time your flight is but it must be early in the morning if you can't use the train as they run very regularly through the day.
If your check in is, say, 6, you will be leaving Bxl before 4 so you'll have to get the car the day before. And can you drop off a car before 6 a.m.?
I would seriously look at the cost of a room near Schiphol.

One way rentals are always very expensive.

Thanks a lot for all your very useful answers. I will definitely look into Blah Blah cars and Flixbus - that I had never heard of before.
My flight is at 11am at Schipol but since one has to be there 2 hours before and also the stress of getting there on time (it's an international flight - expensive and can't be missed), I only looked up the TGV and there was no train that could get me there by 8:30 9:00am on the day of departure.
Also, to keep costs low, I don't want to spend the night in a hotel. We are in fact 3-4 persons who need to get that flight, so a car would be the cheapest option, I think.

There is one way to almost guarantee that you will miss an 11 o'clock international flight from Schiphol - spend the previous night in Bruxelles.

As you say, you can't get there in time by train, but do you realise how congested the roads en route are, and with unpredictable congestion too, compounded by the knock on effects of major road works in central Antwerpen.

Anyone sensible would follow the advice of a seasoned business traveller I once knew - never spend the night before a long distance flight more than a simple taxi ride away.
