Brussels Airlines unions demand more measures against Ebola

12:20 15/10/2014

The unions behind Brussels Airlines want to see more being done to ensure staff safety, as it is currently one of the few airlines continuing service to West Africa. The union requests that the flights to Ebola-risk areas be reduced or suspended, the VRT reports.

During consultations between unions, pilots and the management of Brussels Airlines, the unions have made clear that they want more security guarantees. If that is not possible, then the airline should temporarily suspend all flights to West Africa, says the Christian union.

The airline is already taking certain measures against Ebola, including giving staff members the right to refuse to fly to Ebola-stricken areas and avoiding overnight stays in those areas, measuring the body temperature of passengers at check-in and requiring staff to wear gloves when handling food.
