Brussels Airlines scraps winter flights to Washington

10:12 02/07/2014

Brussels Airlines (BA) is increasing the frequency of its flights to six locations in Central and East Africa but is scrapping its scheduled flights to Washington, DC, this winter. Passengers who have already booked on a Washington-bound flight will be provided with alternative travel options.

According to BA spokesperson Geert Sciot, the decision to scrap the winter flights will only affect “a few thousand” passengers who had already booked a flight. The airline will provide them with travel alternatives, including flying on United Airlines.

“The flights to Washington work very well in the summer," said Sciot. "But we knew there would be fewer passengers in the winter. Additional capacity is now needed on flights to Africa.”
