Belgium's first Night Color Run draws 5,000 participants

21:48 21/08/2016

Nearly 5,000 people came out to the site of Tour & Taxis in Brussels on Saturday to take part in a special night edition of The Color Run, a 5-km event that's more about fun and entertainment than speed or performance. Initiator of the event, the sports marketing agency Golazo, provided the runners with blacklight headlamps and blasted them with a dusting of coloured corn starch at every kilometre. It was the first nocturnal version of the event in Belgium, writes De Morgen.

Traditional Color Runs, which are popular in cities across the world, participants wear white T-shirts that are covered in a rainbow of colours by the time they reach the finish line. For Saturday's Night Color Run in Brussels, the participants wore black T-shirts and ended up covered from head to toe in bright fluorescent colours.

At the finish, runners received a powder sachet for throwing into the air during the post-run concert, creating a massive cloud of glowing colours.
