Belgium's first Burger King to open in Bruges

11:46 02/05/2017

The very first Belgian branch of Burger King will open soon in Bruges. The fast food outlet will take the place of the Quick hamburger restaurant on the city's main square.

The news comes after Burger Brands Belgium submitted an application to replace Quick's logo on Bruges' famous Market Square with that of Burger King, according to a report in Het Nieuwsblad. Burger Brands Belgium is the parent company responsible for bringing together both hamburger chains.

The takeover plans were already made public in the summer of 2016, but exact details about when and where Burger King would open new outlets in Belgium were still unclear. While some of Quick's restaurants will to continue to exist, others will change into Burger Kings.

The exact date of the Burger King opening in Bruges is not yet known.

It's not the first Burger King in Belgium. There's one in Chievres.
