Belgium is ‘safe and ethical’, according to study

Belgium has risen from the 12th to the 10th place in an international ranking of the most reputable countries. "Belgium is mainly seen as a safe and ethical country," the study concludes.

According to the results of the 2015 Country RepTrak study by the Reputation Institute, Canada, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the United States have the best reputation, followed by Switzerland, Australia, Finland, New Zealand, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium.

The study asked 50,000 people from the group of eight highly industrialised nations (G8) for their opinion on 55 different countries. Belgium’s score of 72.3 points is considered a "strong national reputation". Canada, by comparison, comes in first place with 78.1 points.

“Internationally, Belgium is perceived as a well-functioning, ethical and safe country," says communications consultancy akkanto, partner of the Reputation Institute. "The presence of the European institutions and NATO undoubtedly plays a major role."
