Belgium issues timetable for 4G auction

11:48 07/06/2013

Belgium's telecoms regulator has published a preliminary timetable for its 800Mhz radio spectrum auction, which it still aims to complete during this financial year, reports Cellular News. The BIPT said that the new time schedule will allow the candidates to start their technical tests. However, in order to be able to allocate the digital dividend spectrum within this time frame, the regulatory framework needs to be modified. Parliament has voted on the amendments to the regulatory framework which shall be published in Le Moniteur, Belgium’s official gazette, shortly. BIPT said that it will do everything in its power to organise the 800MHz band auction as soon as possible after this publication. For the time being BIPT expects that it will be able to invite applications for the spectrum auction during the second half of August, and carry out the auction itself in early November.
