Belgium crushes Estonia 8-1

14:10 14/11/2016

Belgium's national football team put eight goals past Estonia during the World Cup qualifier match in Brussels' King Baudouin Stadium. Dries Mertens (pictured) was Red Devil of the match with three goals (though FIFA recorded his second as an own goal), followed by Romelu Lukaku with two, and one each by Yannick Carrasco, Thomas Meunier and Eden Hazard. Coach Roberto Martinez's team is now the leader of Group H of the World Cup qualifiers.

Belgium played strongly the entire match despite the absence of key players Fellaini, Dembele, Kabasele and Kompany, and an experimental defensive strategy.

Estonia's only goal came after Carrasco lost control of the ball at the edge of the penalty box, allowing Henri Anier to slide the ball in along the post.

The 39-year-old defender Timmy Simons, Belgium's oldest Red Devil in history, entered the match in the last four minutes.
