Belgium creates 43,000 new jobs this year

15:14 30/06/2016

Last year, 41,000 new jobs were created in Belgium and this year another 43,000 jobs will be created, resulting in nearly 55,000 fewer job seekers in 2018, and a drop in the unemployment rate from 8.6% to 7.8%, according to the latest report by the High Council for Employment (HRW). The jobs of the future, according to federal labour minister Kris Peeters, are concentrated in the digital economy, writes De Morgen.

“The digital economy is an oncoming train that we cannot miss under any circumstances, especially because of the opportunities it brings for job creation. This requires a lot of adjustments and a change in mentality,” Peeters (pictured) told the newspaper. The minister stressed that attention should be focussed on digital literacy in education and ongoing employee training.

I don't see the mention that most of these are temporary jobs, and in no way shape or form should be considered a replacement for permanent jobs with actual pensions.

Temporary is the future, job security will be history. Pensions are not to be trusted or relied upon, too easy a target for the state in times of need. Time to grow up and be a financial adult, nobody is holding our hands much and less so in the future.
