Belgium claims the prize for worst traffic in Europe

09:37 05/03/2014

According to a new study, not only does Belgium top the list for worst vehicle traffic in Europe, it actually turns out to be a positive sign for the economy.

Across Europe, car traffic is again on the rise for the first time in two years, which goes hand-and-hand with economic recovery, says the report carried out by INRIX, a world-wide provider of traffic information.

In countries affected by high unemployment rates or those in the midst of a crisis, there are on average much lower incidents of traffic problems.

Although economic progress could be seen as a good thing, Belgium is unfortunately leading the way once again with the amount of hours lost due to people stuck in their cars. An average of 58 hours were lost last year.
