Belgians believe migrants threaten European lifestyle, survey shows

According to a survey conducted by Het Laatste Nieuws and VTM News, 81% of Belgians think that the refugees arriving in Belgium and Europe threaten their way of life. That fear can be seen on both sides of the political fence, but is most pronounced among the centre to right-wing survey participants: 98% of Vlaams Belang, 93% of N-VA, 89% of Open VLD, 85% of MR and 78% of CD&V members. But left-leaning voters also feel threatened, including 75% of PS, 72% of sp.a and 58% of Groen members, according to the survey.

In addition, 96% of those surveyed feel that Belgium has taken in enough or too many asylum seekers, especially according to the voters of Vlaams Belang (100%) and N-VA (99%). The overall sentiment that Belgium has taken on more than it can handle during the latest refugee surge, is stronger than it was in the last poll in October.
