Belgian universities sign agreement on US student exchange

13:29 03/06/2015

Several Belgian universities yesterday took part in a signing ceremony at the residence of the US ambassador to Belgium, Denise Campbell Bauer. The universities signed an agreement with the Fulbright Commission, which arranges educational exchanges between the United States, Belgium and Luxembourg.

By signing the "memorandum of understanding", the Belgian universities of Antwerp, Brussels’ Saint-Louis and VUB, Ghent, Hasselt, Leuven and Namur have agreed to help finance the Fulbright programme.

The programme allows for 30 to 40 students post-grad students from Belgium to study in the US. Fulbright Belgium, which celebrates its 67th anniversary this year, has sent more than 3,000 Belgian students across the Atlantic since its launch in 1946.

Each participating university contributes between €10,000 and €60,000 a year to the partnership.
