Belgian Nationality declaration via court of appeal, waiting time

Question

Hi,
I applied for Belgian Nationality 3 and half years ago but was rejected on 3 weeks gap in 7 years. (actually I asked in time to renew the card but there was gap because of delayed decision said to staff shortage) I appealed to the court of first instance (in Brussels) 3 years and 3 months ago but I have got no date yet. I called my lawyer and she told me waiting time is 3 years. But, someone told me it could go another year.
Does anyone have similar experience and any idea how long it takes ? and next procedure if positive.

Had pretty much the same situation, mine was in November 2010.......it took 2 years to get a letter confirming the court date which was a full year later in September 2013.......I was successful......then you have to wait another 5 to 6 months for the document from the commune to come in and get your ID card sorted, then another week or so to go back and pick it up......it is all extremely frustrating, even more so because when I had my court date it was mostly lawyers asking to have another court date for their clients who did not even bother to show up because of "insert lame excuse"........thus the wait times keep piling up

Dear Akira and DESIGNBXL,

I'm writing an article for The Bulletin Newcomer magazine on "becoming Belgian". I keep finding people who've had to persevere a little bit but nothing like what you describe, in the end they get citizenship relatively easily compared to your stories, which obviously need to be heard. I'm wondering whether you both applied using the naturalisation procedure or the declaration procedure? And Akira, they gave "staff shortage" as an excuse?! What did they mean by that? I'd also be interested in knowing your countries of origin; those I've talked to already are European, Russian, Pakistani, and Mexican. You can stay anonymous, of course, and just reply to me here, it's up to you, I'd appreciate whatever more you could tell me.

Thanks, and all the best.
