Belgian media company Corelio books strong results

10:36 02/03/2015

Belgian media group Corelio, which publishes De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad and The Bulletin among other titles, booked a net profit of €1.8 million last year, compared with a loss of €42.3 million a year earlier, the company announced last week.

The figures are mostly the result of Corelio's sale of L'Avenir and the merger with Concentra, which publishes Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg. The merged company, called Mediahuis, also acquired the Dutch NRC Media, started a new partnership with De Vijver Media and separated from a number of French-speaking titles.

Corelio expects the strong improvement in results to continue this year, given the positive evolution of the Mediahuis titles and the acquisition of NRC Media, which should lead to significant earnings in 2015, according to the media company.
